Big 10 Heavyweights Win

The B-10 Heavyweights got a strong start to the season defeating Mundelein 30-7 in Mundelein.

The offense demonstrated itself as a venerable unit, scoring on the opening drive, and the next four drives as well. Three different players had touchdown runs of about 50 yards, Including Antonio Cannon, Marcus Enriquez, and Trevon Burton. Sam Francis scored form 5 yards, and 20 yards, as both a running back and a quarterback.

Quarterback Keegan Smith executed an exceptional play-action pass to “blank” Gibbons for a 30 yard gain on third dawn and fifteen yards to go. The Smith-Gibbons reception set up Francis’ quarterback sweep for a 20 yard touchdown.

The defensive unit was equally impressive. Mundelein ran back their first kick reception to the Huskie 13 yard line. The starting Defense responded with four aggressive blitz attacks driving Mundelein further from the goal line, and turning the ball over on downs. Mundelein later completed a long pass to the Huskie 7 yard line, and was again held scoreless by the tenacious blitz attack of the Huskie defense.

The Heavyweights achieved the excessive score threshold early in the second quarter. The starting backfield was replaced, and second team offense and defense units carried the second half yielding one touchdown in a hard fought running game contest.
